This past weekend the English Premier League kicked off to a dramatic and thrilling start. Arsenal saw off Fulham 3-0 in the first match of the season with Willian showing his permanent class by providing two assists and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang picking where he left off with his name on the scorers sheet. Wilfried Zaha came to Crystal Palace’s aid giving them a 1-0 win against Southampton.
At Anfield, defending champions Liverpool faced off against the Sky Bet Championship winners Leeds United after a 16-year absence in the league in a high scoring match that saw Liverpool win 4-3 thanks to a Mohammed Salah hattrick. Callum Wilson registered his first goal in his first appearance for Newcastle as they saw off West Ham 2-0 and Jamie Vardy scoring a brace showing that age is just a number as Leicester beat newcomers West-Bromwich 3-0.
The highlight was Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspurs taking on Carlo Ancelotti’s new-look Everton in a close match that ended in Ancelotti’s favour with Calvert Lewin bagging the goal. Chelsea will take on Brighton and Holve Albion later on tonight. This season has the potential to be the best ever qualitywise. Only time will tell.
