New Trend of Live Virtual Shows.
With the cancellation of public gatherings worldwide in a bid to curb spread of Corona virus, musicians and entertainers have taken to social media to reach their fans. This new trend has been quickly taken up with Kenyan artists such as Sauti Sol who put on a solid show complete with a band for two days in a row on Instagram Live late last month.
Deejays have not been left behind. Veteran reggae and dancehall deejay and hype man Kris Darling hosted a live set on Facebook to fans who were tuned in from as far as Netherlands, USA and Canada. DJ Pierra Makena on 1st April entertained her fans to a live set on Instagram.
This new trend has been well received by fans who throng the entertainers’ social media handles in large numbers to get entertained at the comfort of their homes. This has also provided the artists with a platform to sensitize their fans with measures to stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
