Maseno University main campus has been shut down indefinitely. This is according to a memo released by the institute signed by Prof. Julius O.Nyabundi, PhD, OGW the Vice-Chancellor of the higher learning institution addressed to all students. This comes in the wake of alleged stabbings and rape cases meted on students by the locals. The memo dated 1 December 2019 instructs students to vacate the premises of the institution by 7:30 pm Sunday due to failure of the student’s body to engage in structured discussions with the University Management.
The memo was also shared on the University’s official Facebook page.
The issue has elicited an uproar from Kenyans on social media with many questioning the institution’s decision of releasing a vacation memo at night. The University is found in Maseno, Kisumu . The students of the university have for long not had a smooth relationship with the surrounding community who students have claimed has made the area very insecure for them.
