The 10th edition of the annual JKUAT Tech Expo is set to go down on the 27th and 28th February 2020 at the Main Campus Assembly Hall from 9 AM.

This years expo themed ‘Changing Lives through Innovation’ saw 35 project applications which were later trimmed to 18. The expo will be aiming at driving innovation and creating value to the society.

According to the organizers the expo will also be focusing on a number of SDGs out of the 17 SDGs namely SDG 3(Good health and well being),SDG 4(Quality Education), SDG 6 ( Clean Water and Sanitation),SDG 7(Affordable and clean energy), SDG 9( Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 11 ( Sustainable cities and community), SDG 12 ( Sustainable consumption and production patterns) and SDG 13 ( climate action).

Last year’s chapter saw two innovations walk away with the much coveted prize of Ksh 80,000 each after a tie. Walking Buddy an innovation exhibited by Sackey Freshia that is a smart walking stick for visually impaired tied with Gilbert Waliula’s Safariwiz, a portable Mobile App that employs GIS,GPS, Maps, and real time alerts to enable road users to view alerts and road eventualities along the road they are driving. First runners up position went to Path Finders an innovation presented by Job Muchama, Elias Koome, Hassan Adan and Gideon Omangi.
