Kenya rugby family woke up to very heartbreaking news on Wednesday 3rd March 2020 when they learned of the untimely demise of Tonny Onyango.
Onyango played for KCB RFC at full-back and wing and was also a regular for the Simbas. He passed away the previous evening after coming from training where he collapsed.
The Kenya rugby fraternity is deeply saddened by his demise and an official statement was released which said “We join the entire Kenyan rugby fraternity in mourning Tony Onyango Opondo of KCB Rugby Club who passed away on Tuesday 3 March 2020. Tony had played for the Kenya national team across all representative levels.”
Various clubs and rugby personalities have been sending their condolences to the family and praising Onyango for his exceptional sporting abilities and character.
More details are yet to be released but a post mortem is set to be carried out in the coming days to determine the course of death.
