The “African giant” Burna Boy, has once again taken the entertainment front by storm after his latest studio album, African Giant, was nominated for Grammy Awards 2020 slated for January 26th 2020.
The nominations which took place a few hours ago for the 62nd edition of the annual Grammy awards, saw Burna Boy’s album take a slot under the category of Best world music album. To qualify for this category, the album should contain at least 51% of new local or instrumental World Music recordings.
The Nigerian singer and songwriter rose to prominence in 2012 after the release of lead single “like to party” from his debut studio album L.I.F.E(2013).In 2017 he signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the US and Warner Music Group internationally. His 3rd studio album, Outside(2018)marked his major-label debut.
In 2019 he won the Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards. He was also announced as Apple’s Up Next artist. His fourth studio album, African Giant, was released on July 26th, 2019.
Shortly after the nominations, numerous fans took to social media to congratulate him with fellow music stars Wizkid, Don Jazzy and Kaywise among others, also sending props.
